Marriage
Vows
The Marriage Act 1961 sets out that all Marriage Ceremonies must contain the following
vows:
I
call upon the persons here present to witness that I, GROOM, take thee, BRIDE, to be my
lawful wedded Wife.
I call upon the persons here present to witness that I, BRIDE, take thee, GROOM, to be
my lawful wedded Husband |

Additional Vows can then be added - The Vows listed below
are just a very small selection of those that are available.
V1
Bride , I give myself to you to be your husband. I promise to love and sustain
you in the covenant of marriage, from this day forward, in sickness and in
health, in plenty and in want, in joy and in sorrow, as long as we both
shall live.
V2
Groom , take you, Bride , to be my wife, my faithful partner in life, my
constant friend and my one true love. I promise to love you without
reservation, in sickness and in health, in plenty and in want - to stand
together in our times of joy and sorrow, always to be open and honest with
you, for as long as we both shall live.
V3
I ___ take you ____to be my wedded wife/husband. I promise to be your constant friend,
faithful partner in life, your one true love. Now & forevermore.

I promise love everyday. I promise support in everything you do. I promise to try to be
the best man I can be, for you for the rest of our lives, because through you, I am a
better man. I will love you always

I make these promises to you today & every day from this day forward - To be loving
& affectionate, to place your happiness above my own, to be respectful of our
differences, to be always willing to work through our times of trouble, to be honest,
faithful & forgiving. You are my best friend & I love you.

& in tears, in conflict & tranquillity, asking that you be not other than
yourself, loving what I know of you, trusting what I do not know yet, in all the ways that

my life to keep. So help me God.

I promise above all else to live in truth with you
and to communicate fully and fearlessly
I give you my hand and my heart
as a sanctuary of warmth and peace and pledge my love, devotion, faith and honour as I
join my life to yours.

I take you ____ to be my husband, lover and best friend and these things I promise to you:
I will be faithful to you and honest with you
I will respect, trust, help and care for you
I will share my life with you
I will share with you everything that is to come throughout the rest of our lives
together.

From this day forward I will be here for you. I will sing your joys, cry your
sorrows and stand by your side through whatever life may bring your way. From this
day forward, through good times and bad, I will live with you, grow and change with you.
I will do all I can to keep our marriage strong and happy and alive with
possibilities. From this day forward I will cherish you. I will look
with joy down the path of our tomorrows and find peace and happiness, knowing we will walk
in it together, side by side, hand in hand, and heart to heart.

I love you more than words can describe. I thank God every day for bringing
you into my life. I was only half a person before you came into my life, but
now I am whole and complete. I'm grateful that you love my true self,
unconditionally. I receive you as my husband, a gift from God. I promise to
honour, cherish, respect, and trust you. I promise to work beside you to build
a loving and a happy home. I commit myself to do these things through the
power of the Holy Spirit - for all of my life.

I love you dearly. I am elated to take you as my wife today before the
presence of God. I am thankful that he designed you with me in mind and that I
will not be whole without you. I promise to protect you, giving you a secure
household in which you can share your deepest thoughts with me. I promise to
listen to you and help guide you through troubled times. I am glad you are my
best friend, my love, my life, and my whole world - and I am honoured to become your
husband.
